Woodshed Collective

The Woodshed for Art, Thought, and Culture at the Racial Justice Institute announces the launch of the Woodshed Collective. The Woodshed Collective is a multi-generational and international group of primarily Black creatives who gather to seed and develop new performance research methodologies for storytelling and experiment together with interdisciplinary creative forms. Under the creative direction of Anita Gonzalez, the Woodshed Collective works with scholars, researchers, and creatives who are actively making new written or devised work (which may include performance, sound, choreography, production, or visual works).

Studio Theatre in Washington D.C. has been a major partner, contributing space to host many of the Woodshed Collective sessions.

In October 2024 we are excited to announce that we will be partnering with the Research Center for Arts and Wellbeing at Edge Hill University for the next Woodshed residency.
