Mission and Impact
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
We understand that the strength of any community exists in its ability to communicate across differences and leverage collective resources and knowledge to address relevant issues. We seek to build strategic partnerships across disciplines and concerns to build a nurturing ecosystem of support across Georgetown Communities.
Reconciliatory Dialogues
By centering stories of racial disparities and injustice the RJ EnActors aims to make problematic dynamics and histories visible. Our theatrical interventions paired with facilitated discussions ask participants to consider approaches for disrupting problematic behaviors and increasing equity in various institutional contexts.
Intergenerational Engagement
The target audience for our programming are faculty, staff, and students, which allows us to reach a healthy cross-section of the institution’s population. We are also incorporating student artists to round out our troupe of actors. The integration of students provides an opportunity to ensure our offerings are intergenerational and accurately reflect the populations we are serving. It also provides an opportunity for students to learn our methodologies, become more adept facilitators, and develop effective tools for managing conflict.
Current Partners
The Mission for the EnActors and RJI:
Inspired by President DeGioia’s call for Racial Justice in the creation of RJI and invigorated by GU’s core values: “What would a fully alive moral imagination enable us to see in the challenges and injustices that we are called to confront in this moment?” The RJI EnActors work to enliven our moral imagination, exposing injustices that exist and inspiring the futures that we hope to see. This work facilitates engagement with a cross-section of campus constituencies, evoking empathy and disseminating essential and timely information about racial justice issues from multiple perspectives.
