Indigenous Racial Justice – “How We Go Missing”
Spring 2022
In conjunction with the Anishinaabe Theater Exchange’s residency this Spring, the Racial Justice Institute will host a panel discussion entitled “How We Go Missing.” This panel will highlight the many ways Native American people have, and continue to, go missing in the United States both physically and metaphorically.
Anishinaabe Theater Exchange Residency
May 2022
The Racial Justice Institute and Lab for Global Performance and Politics sponsor the performance of a new work developed by the Anishinaabe Theater Exchange titled “How we go Missing” as a part of their biannual event The Gathering. The Anishinaabe Theater Exchange is a Native artist collective that aims to wield the power of theater to share Native American stories and activate community networks.
Zora On My Mind Residency
May 2022
A performance residency, sponsored by the Racial Justice Institute in May 2022, will give space and time for the continued development of Zora on My Mind, a jazz/blues chamber musical. This new musical written by Racial Justice Institute co-founder/leader Anita Gonzalez explores the nuances of representation, independence, and success for Black women.
Values-Based Lecture

Dr. Griffith presents the lecture titled “I’m a little lost… is health equity on the way to social justice, or are they the same place?” This virtual event will be moderated by Dr. Debbie Barrington, assistant professor in the school’s Department of Human Science. This event, co-sponsored by Georgetown Law school, University of Houston Law Center, and Media 2070 Free Press, explores historic and contemporary racial discrimination in all modalities of modern media. Racial Justice Institute co-founder Robin Lenhardt is a participant.
Writing Black Women – “Zora on My Mind”
“Writing Black Women” will explore how four Black feminist scholars write their presence into artistic and academic narratives. Zandria Robinson, Kym Moore, Alexandria Davis, and Jordan Ealey join Racial Justice Institute co-founder/leader Anita Gonzalez in a conversation building from their engagement in the musical Zora on My Mind.
