Our Mission

RJI creates and inspires racial justice. Building from Georgetown’s values and historical experience with slavery, RJI activates the resources of the university and collaborates with an expansive range of partners. Working across boundaries, RJI catalyzes innovative social change through scholarship, interventions, and transformative strategies.

Our Origins and Foundational Values

Founding the RJI is one of the ways that Georgetown has sought to transform the systems and institutions that uphold inequities in health, wealth and opportunity through research and scholarship. The University’s Catholic, Jesuit values undergird all that we do.
